Hello, I have an original band for the  1950 Bulova Academy Award W but it's too small. I located another band and I'd like to add or take away links. Does this band come apart? I'd attach a picture but I'm not sure how.

This is the band on someone else's watch on here but the same as I have

No, your expansion bracelet is not adjustable. You cannot remove nor add links. A nice NOS De-Beer or Hadley Roma Black or Brown reptile band compliments these watches nicely. Measure the lugs for correct fitting.

Why would Bulova use a non adjustable band for the Academy Award? This is the original band that this watch came with. If you look at the ad from 1950, it's the same band.

The majority of expansion watch bands pre-1960 can't easily be re-sized. They were produced more or less based on the size of the average wrist (regular). Watches were sold on a regular band, but replacement bands were offered Regular, Short, Extra Short and Long. Regular (average) was basically for a 6 1/2 to 7 1/2" wrist with minor slip to minimal expansion.  A skilled jeweler might be able to do it, but it will be labor intensive and expensive.

How long is the band on your watch?
