I've had one of these guys before but the other one was shot and wasn't worth fixing up.
This one is in fantastic shape and took off running as I was taking pictures of it.
I believe this to be a 1921 Hudson Maxim, the 1921 just from the 1 on the start of the case serial. I realize that might not be exactly correct, but I'm fine with it as it's prettty much the only thing we're going to get.
Beautiful watch, with hand engraved flowers on the dial. Gold filled, 17 jewel. No movement model as this was prior to that, and no movement date stamp because of the same, just to early in the companies history.
A beautiful piece.
This will be the 17R, I identified these by their keyless works fingerprint. In- House Bulova, not from any ebauche, produced in their Swiss factory.
I'd say it's a Hudson Maxim, and the reason for the similarity to the Gruen in the ad, many companies purchased dials from the same supplier then as now.
