I am interested in this watch but it seems off to me or at least I can't find any examples online. I am trying to make sense of it and hope you all can help out!! I believe I see a triangle date code for 1926 but am not sure. The dial is definitely redone and the black enamel seems to be newer perhaps? Also, the hinge on the case is missing. Thanks!
This one is beautiful, but a mystery to me at present. Here is a site that explains the "hammer with handle" gold hallmark. It apparently can be narrowed down to maker by the number on the hammer head.
Still looking.
Dear Spartcom5, the period specialist would be me......
Although Swiss hall marked cases of Bulova exist, they are all signed with "Bulova W. Co. ". I am afraid the watch is a Franken. What adds to that suspicion is the combination of dial and movement: the movement is from 1926, but the dial with the gold numbers was introduced by Bulova in 1929. I would pass if you are looking for a genuine Bulova. If you like the watch (and the case is nice!) go ahead for pure decorative value......
I concur with Alex, whilst the case is an absolute beauty, it's like nothing we have seen before. That in of itself does not make it a non Bulova, but the lack of a Bulova stamp an the mix-match movement/dial and hands combo does suggest that its been made up of various parts.
The 10AN is definitely 1926 but again as Alex indicates the dial type wasn't used until a few years later.
However with all that said and done you just never really know with Bulova.
A beauty of a watch nevertheless.
Well, we seem to all be in agreement. My take is the design of the case. Bulova with a couple rare exceptions, even is karat gold stuck to a fixed set of patterns, this is not typical and that it's in a non signed case lend me to an ID of Non Conforming. It certainly is a striking design
