Hi all
I am not sure if this is a 1930 or 1940 model. the movement is a 6AE 17 jewel marked with an omega symbol. the case is 10k rolled gold plate and has the serial number 0187756. inside it is marked Bulova ,Fifth Ave. New York. the case is engraved around the sides. the crystal is glass.
It could be a 1930 model or a 1937 movement in a 1940 case . ?
Looking through the db for the 6AE movement it gives the manufacture dates between 30 and 37.
the watch is in beautiful condition and seems to be running very well and keeping time
I would appriciate other members opinions on this little gem please

Hi Donegd, your watch is definitively not from 1930. The style of the side engraving and the dial is more in line with the late 30's design. Actually, your watch started off as the Carolyn in 1936. It was well advertized until 1939. But in that year the names changes to "Evangeline". This is a practise that happened more in the Bulova history. This model continues to be advertized as "Evangeline" until 1941. Since your watch is from 1940, I would classify your watch as "Evangeline". Unfortunately I do not manage to copy paste the image in this text, but you can find the ad when you click in the home page the "Search Bulova adverts, full, 40" and then choose the second ad and in the ad look at the third watch from the left. Maybe someone else can do the copy paste for me. As to the 6AE movement, the omega date code can be 1930 or 1940. I have seen once a 6AE of 1939, so I would assume your movement is from 1940, like the case, so all original! Enjoy the watch!
Here is Evangeline from 1941 ad

Good point Donegd, movements in 1930 all had serial numbers. Now you indicate that yours doesn't, it confirms for me it is from 1940. Also, in 1930, they still sold the predecessor of the 6AE, being the 6AF. It came in 15, 17 and 7 jewel versions at the time. So your movement must be from 1940.
