1949 Bullova His Exellency
A9 date code - SN 1190242 - 7AK 21 jewel movement 48 date code
This is a His Excellency or a variant. I found several ‘48 His Excellency’s with different disl colors. Some said Excellency and some did not. The disl colors were rose gold, black, or gray. None of the dials were a color match to mine. The His Excellency “NN”’s are a more consistent match. Several are a match to the case and dial although some do not say Excellency.
It’s hard to tell which ones have raised numbers and which ones don’t. This one does have them. I did notice something unusual. Of all the ones I looked at, every one that said Excellency, the word Excellency was not as long as the word Bulova. But on my dial, Excellency is longer than Bulova. I was only looking at watches that were a match to my case.
The only versions that had a match to my case were the ‘48-‘50 His Excellency and ‘48-‘51 His Excellency “NN”. None of those were an exact match to the dial. The “NN” was the closest match overall. There is one ‘49 “NN” (sn 1614141) that only differed in the length of the word Excellency on the dial. That watch was also only one of three that were a match to the case and whose SN started with a 1. I doubt that’s relevant though.
I would call this the “NN” variant but I’m not an expert.
The His Excellency "NN" looks like a match to me. Like this one https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1949-his-excellency-nn-1474 but as you said the Excellency on the a different size. Possibly a refinished dial.
