Watch Description

As I continue to clean out the home that I was born and raised in I found 14 more time pieces today. 5 wrist and 9 pocket watches. Among todays finds was this 1973 Bulova Accutron date and day. I have not found the variant yet. This watch is inscribed for my grandfathers retirement in 1975.
The movement is #2182G which is not in the data base at this time.I don’t see a Jewel number. There is a very small N3 just below the battery retaining clip on the movement and the case has a N4.

I must say I am enjoying the sleuthing to try and identify these heirlooms that will be passed on to the kids. I really appreciate the information that has been gathered here on my bulova.com and the effort and insight the panel provides.

Thank you

Thank you for posting your grandfathers watch.  It appears to be a 1974 Bulova Accutron Date & Day "AY" based on this ad although there are some dial differences in the 12, 6, 9 hour markers. Overall it looks to be correct on all other aspects..

What fun you must be having - I recall doing the SAME thing for my father AND my grandmothers home (sorry to say - no Bulovas but my father had 18 pocket watches and one very cool Zodiac Astrographic SST that he wore every single day)

THIS is the watch I hope you keep as it's inscribed to you grandfather (yes, I'm jealous). Get it serviced - I'll recommend someone - Accutrons are SO COOL. Watches are wonderful keepsakes.

Yes Geoff I am enjoying the process of discovery here with the Bulova watches. I never would have imagined how difficult it is to nail down the exact models. Not so much this one but the two older ladies watches I have. There are so many models and variant’s. I’m just getting started with the other wrist watch and pocket watch brands, very cool stuff I’m discovering.

I don’t plan on parting with any of the pieces right now, especially this engraved one from my grandfather as my son and I are namesakes. In fact I’m William the 7th and my son is the 8th in lineage.

I do plan on getting many of them serviced before passing along to my son and daughter.

again thanks to the panel, I see why you enjoy the investigating.
