I would like information on this watch. My grandfather bougt it new in 1949 and worn it everyday till he died in 1968. I have had it ever since. It shows wear but works so, I had it cleaned, oiled and adjusted. I would like information on it. I would like to know what model it is and if the band was original.
Thank You Dan
The Case and Movement (also?) are Bulova. (i.e. the "Squadron.") The dial is most likely an aftermarket (jeweler) installed "upgrade?" This is the first one I've ever seen, with this dial... And this design was most likely targeting the "military" market, so the dial is therefore almost certainly, "custom..."

Stephen I agree, I have owned a number with these dials, they are usually late 1940's - mid 1950's models as opposed to the earlier - mid 1940's.
I have had a few Bulova watches with Bulova marked expandable bands which they also date coded either below the Bulova or on the opposite end, however I believe they usually used generic makes such as Kriesler/Speidel. I have only ever see the Bulova ones marked post 1951.

Talk about reading between the lines. damn you're good.
In fact I'm glad I didn't win it as I ended up finding another model that also caught my eye....the Bulova Lone Eagle....the rest they say is history!
Actually the existence of this site and my passion for Bulova watches can be partly put down to me not winning....
