My High School Graduation Present
Astronaut "Mark I (AKA Deep Sea 666 feet World Time Zone)
Great looking watch Bob. I think it is so amazing that you still have a graduation gift watch from 40 years ago, congrats on keeping it all these years. I imagine this beauty is pretty special to you.
What a surprise for me, I always though these were called World Time Zone watches. Great match on the ad Greg. I knew we had MK II & IV Astronauts, now we have.....
Accutron Astronaut Mark I
Thanks all
I never knew what they were called, i only resently saw one on the intenet for sale and it was discribed as a world time zone.
any one know how the time zone dial works? After 40 years i never was able to figure it out and i dont remember the watch coming with instruction on how it worked
Bob - Ask Virgil "Gus" Grissom why an astronaut needs a 'deep sea' watch (Liberty Bell 7). HA!
Who really knows WHAT Bulova was thinking, other than word like 'Astronaut' and "Deep Sea' sold watches. Your parents are proof.
To answer how the time ring works...I want to know what happens when you turn the top crown, does the city dial (the white one) turn or does the inner one (the black one) turn? My guess is that the black one turns.

Ty lyle i had it since i grauated form HS in 1974 and i always took care if it, having it service evey few years. But after 2006 i didnt put a new battrey in it because belive it or not the watch kept my wife up at night because she could hear it running. But when i finaly did put a battrey in it, it didnt run correctly anymore.
