This watch was also called the Deauville in a different 1928 ad. In both cases it was marketed as a "sports watch" and featured a leather band. And yes Jerin, you are correct at the identity of the high bidder.

It is true that the same, or similar, watch is called the Deauville. However, only the Lady Lindy advert specified jade enamel, which this watch has. It could be that the ad for the Deauville simply failed to comment on the color of the enamel, or it could be that they are, in fact, different watches with different colors of enamel. The black and white--or only slightly colored--ads make it impossible to know for sure.

At least she went to a good home! And lets be honest... the beautiful ladies model... Lady Lindy... essentially the counterpart to the Lone Eagle men's watch... it almost seems right it should go to a woman collector.
Congrats! and...... YES I did make you pay... but there was someone else in there that bumped you as well. I was the third to last bidder.

As discussed above, I paid through the nose for the first one, but the second one came in a pair of enamels--both in terrific shape--that the seller listed for a $70 BIN. The second in the pair was a beautiful 1927 Vassar. You just never know what great deals will present themselves.
