original bracelet in EXCELLENT condition. If you were to see it after I cleaned it and told you it was NOS, you’d believe it.

I believe this to be the Stanton. It looks just like the Standish but the Standish has engraving on the sides.

There is a good explanation of the difference between the Shoreham, Standish, and Stanton in the discussion of the other 1950 Stanton in the DB.

Depending on the era, Bulova Line Books included Westfield, Caravelle and Accutron models as they were all produced by Bulova Corp.

We do not seem to have an ad match to this and have one other in the DB attributed as a Stanton based on the crystal which leads me to believe this is a factory model and not a Westfield frankenwatch.    We have a 50's linebook that confirms Stanton name was engraved at least in the 1955 period.   I am not so certain we have a confirmed ID as a Stanton although it shares the crystal with the Shoreham and Standish and is likely.    I am for moving the other watch https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1950-stanton-2854  to unknown as well as this one until we can confirm Stanton.

Let’s reevaluate the Shoreham, Standish, and Stanton models. They are all based on the same form factor and only differ in the amount of engraving on the bezel.

I reviewed all the ID’s of the model’s currently identified as the Standish and found that many were identified strictly because it matched another watch that was identified as a Standish. Standish 0 (to parody Patient 0), was identified based on the G-S crystal labeled as being for the Standish.

We know the Shoreham, Standish and Stanton all use the same crystal. We know from the 1950 ad which one is the Shoreham. The G-S crystal does not confirm which of the other two is the Standish and which is the Stanton. Aside from the Shoreham ad, the only evidence we have of the identification of either model is the 1955 line book entry for the Stanton which identifies the partially engraved bezel.

Making no further assumptions, the logical conclusion would be that all years with the partially engraved bezel is the Stanton. By process of elimination, the plain bezel would be the Standish as identified by the G-S crystal.

Have I left anything out or misinterpreted any information?

This would require changing all the Standish to Stanton’s and the Stanton’s to Standish.

So base on this and confirmation of a linebook entry Ken added previously, do we agree that the following applies:

  • Full bezel & lug engraving = Shoreham
  • Side bezel engraving = Stanton
  • Plain bezel = Standish

If so I'll go ahead and update the neccessary watches.
