1956 Miss Universe
Good shape, runs well
1956 Bulova Miss Universe it is (readable advert)
OK, I'm on the fence.
Does this one boil down to one that name is based on year of watch and 1955 was the tipping point or is one a misprint?
Jabs' ad dated 1955 shows as Miss Universe
Kathy's ad (from another site) also represented as 1955 shows same watch as Miss America.
Well, wiki cleared up one question:
Hilleivi Rombin, of Sweden was crowned Miss Universe, Miss USA, Carlene King Johnson was one of the semi-finalists. Of course, Lee Ann Meriwether was crowned Miss America. I would guess this watch to be either Miss Universe OR Miss America, I just don't know which one yet......but I am inclined to the latter, Miss America.
Well that is embarrassing lol I didn't catch the different name. Looking at ads on newspapers for the two models in 1956 I would go with Miss Universe. Miss America looks similar but Miss Universe seems spot on. But there were many different variants. It may have been a regional thing like Geoff suggested. I would be ok with either model name.
Both models mentioned were assigned reference numbers 6725-Yellow and 6707-White in the 1955/1958/1961 pricelists. The Miss America is priced at $35.75, while the Miss Univ is priced at $39.75. A $4 difference, but I do not find any differences between the two; the bands look the same, both are RGP w/ stainless backs, same dials and hands.
Either model name works for me: Miss America 'E' or Miss Universe 'C'
