New to the world of Bulova Accutron watches. Please excuse if I use wrong terminology. Backstory- My Father received an N3 Bulova Accutron Tuning Fork 14KT gold case watch. This was in 1973. Long story short. He passed away in 1976 and I just found this watch this past week. So 43 years sitting in an old box! It’s 14KT Gokd Case with N3 J896678 serial number engraved on back. Of course, it doesn’t run and has a small crack in crystal face in lower right corner. I am looking for help to determine what do I have in my possession. A possible valuable vintage watch, ordinary watch or really something special. I have received a tentative offer of $350 to restore the crystal, restoration of movement & restart keeping time. I appreciate any any information that you can provide.
Thank You. Respectfully,

Martin,
This is a very nice watch and you are fortunate to have it as an heirloom from your father. I've found two 1972 ads identifying this design as the Accutron Date & Day 'BA'. I like the black hands and accents with the gold. The original band would have been a black leather strap.

Ken,
I just noticed the price $250. Most people look at that and say $250 that’s no expensive watch.
I started work at this company 3 days out of high school in 1974. A major Company in downtown Chicago. If you know the skyline it’s the red building CNA.
Anyway back to the price. I was making $5000 a year full-time. $208 was my paycheck gross twice a month. So $250 was a lot of money in early 70s.
Side note CNA Financial & Bulova were both owned by brothers Lawrence & Robert Tisch. More commonly known as Loew’s Corporation.
Welcome to myBulova Martin! Thank you for sharing your father’s watch with us. And a very nice one in solid 14K. Solid gold vintage watches are more rare and valuable than gold filled models. But it is priceless as an heirloom for you and your family. It is expensive to get it repaired and serviced but would be wonderful for you to be able to wear and enjoy it. You can find NOS Bulova straps on eBay that would bring it back to it’s original state.
Nice ad finds Ken.
