I was gifted this watch some years ago by my now ex. He said he believed it to be early 1930s but, thanks to this website, I now know it to be a 1948 model. I’ve yet to find an advert of the design so can’t say what the name of it is. He bought it from a small shop in New York. That’s pretty much all I can say about it.
If anyone has an ad for this watch I’d love to see it.
Welcome to myBulova! I am excited to see your watch, it is lovely. I have only seen these in rose/pink gold and think it is great to see your watch in white gold. This style was a cocktail watch and there are only a few ads for them. I do not believe I have seen one like yours. How many diamonds are on the case? Looks like five but would like to confirm that.
Thank you Admin, and thank you, Geoff.
I agree, it isn’t really like those in the ad as it has a metal snake chain rather than the cord chain. It does have 17 jewels and has a face almost exactly like the Mayflower. I haven’t seen anything with the expended sections where the bracelet attaches or anything with the diamonds as yet.
Welcome, and thanks for sharing!
I have been hunting but fail to come up with an ad to ID your little beauty. I agree with Kathy that it would be considered a "cocktail watch", but fail to find a name for her. It seems the higher end ladies watches didn't get as widely advertised as the "every man's & women's" more affordable watches. They had a pretty narrow customer base.
At this point I have to say
1948 Unknown..... sorry :o(
Tank you, Neetstuff. I’m inclined to agree with you. It seems most of the watches are aimed at the wider market. I haven’t seen any with diamonds on the case at all and only very few with the metal bracelet. I’d be interested to see what Kathy L has seen in the rose gold, especially if it might be in an advert.
As I’m in the UK, seeking (and finding) the kind of magazine or catalog where such a watch is advertised is more difficult.
